An AI directory and a launch platform do different jobs

There’s An AI For That, often shortened to TAAFT, is a directory of AI products and nothing else. Its launch page sets the scope: Accepts AI tools, MCPs, GPTs and non-human AI influencers2. Its size on the day of the check: 55,195 AI tools, per its homepage counter6. Visitors arrive with a job to get done, search for it, and browse the tools that match, so a listing works like a labelled shelf in a very large, very specialised shop.

MegaLaunch is a launch platform for products of any kind, AI tools included. Its format, as the pricing page describes it: A permanent listing, with a daily, weekly and monthly leaderboard1. Makers submit, the community votes and comments, and the product keeps its page after launch day. The useful question is not which site is bigger, but which one puts your product in front of the people who will actually try it: someone hunting for a tool that does one task, or someone browsing what makers shipped this week.

TAAFT publishes its own figures: 5M+ monthly visitors and 2.5M+ newsletter subscribers, as claimed on its launch page2. MegaLaunch has not measured them and no licensed traffic source was used for this page, so neither side gets a traffic row in the table. Treat a directory’s audience claim as a reason to run a test, not as a forecast of the visits your own listing will get.

Pricing

TAAFT charges for a review, not for a position in a ranking. Its entry plan: Low traffic plan, $49 one-time review fee2. The two public plans read: $49 one-time (Low traffic) or $437 one-time (with a newsletter spot)2. The fee is paid once and the listing does not expire2, which matters when you compare it with an ad budget that stops working the day you stop paying.

Without paying, TAAFT describes a single route, and it is a selection rather than a right: Only through a monthly thread on X: one tool per thread is listed free2. It is worth entering if you follow TAAFT on X anyway, but a launch date should not depend on it.

MegaLaunch has a free route that does not depend on being picked: the listing goes live 48 hours after submission, with a link back to MegaLaunch on your site1. The paid option is Premium, $4.99 one-time (excl. VAT): live once payment is confirmed1. Premium buys speed and launch day visibility (a highlighted card on the homepage, the weekly newsletter, a post on X), and it never buys votes: One vote per person; paid options never change votes or rankings7. The full list of what each plan includes is on the pricing page.

On price alone, the cheapest paid listing costs less on MegaLaunch ($4.99 excl. VAT) than on TAAFT2, and a free MegaLaunch listing costs nothing but a link back. That gap says little about value, because the two fees buy different things: TAAFT’s pays for a reviewed place in an AI-only catalogue with its own audience, MegaLaunch’s pays for a faster, more visible launch among makers. Choose on audience first, then compare prices.

Review time and going live

Every TAAFT submission is read by a person2, and its FAQ gives this timing: Average processing time of 1 to 2 days2.

On MegaLaunch the wait depends on the plan: Free: 48 hours after submission. Premium: live as soon as payment is confirmed1. Free listings are moderated too, and Matt can decline or postpone a listing that breaks the moderation rules. Paying does not skip that check: a rejected paid product is refunded instead.

In practice neither review is the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the listing itself: a vague tagline gets approved and then ignored on both sites. Before you submit anywhere, run your name, tagline and description through the headline and tagline analyzer, and pick a day and an hour with the launch time planner.

Links, badges and what they are worth

On the TAAFT listings sampled for this page, the HTML gave this result (Followed: the links to the tool carry no rel attribute3). TAAFT’s launch page does not promise a backlink2, so read this as an observation made on one day, not as a term of the offer. As for your own site: No badge or link back asked for on its launch page2.

MegaLaunch writes the link type on its pricing page: Free listing: a followed link to your site (no nofollow or sponsored attribute)1. The trade on the free plan is a link back to MegaLaunch on your site, which Premium does not need1. If you would rather not add a MegaLaunch link, Premium removes that condition.

Do not give the link too much weight on either site. One followed link from a large directory is a small signal among many, and Domain Rating is left out of this page because it could not be read on Ahrefs for both sites on the same day. The visits a listing sends are easier to verify: tag each listing URL with the UTM builder and follow the referral traffic worksheet. For the SEO side, Do directory submissions help SEO? explains what a directory link can and cannot do.

Refunds

TAAFT’s terms are narrow and readable: Full refund if the tool is not published; none once it is live8.

MegaLaunch’s refund policy follows the same logic for an undelivered service: a paid service that has not started can be cancelled and refunded in full, and if moderation rejects the product before the paid service is delivered, the purchase is refunded. Neither side refunds a delivered listing because it brought fewer visits than hoped.

Which one first? The launch-first credit

One detail changes the order of a launch plan. TAAFT offers this: Up to $300 of ad credit if the tool launches on TAAFT before any other platform2. The condition is strict: the tool must not appear on any other platform before its TAAFT launch, and that includes MegaLaunch.

If that credit matters to you, list on TAAFT first and launch on MegaLaunch afterwards: nothing on MegaLaunch requires an exclusive or a first appearance. If it does not matter, the order is yours, and a sequence that works well is the reverse one. Launch where people vote and comment, fix what the first visitors stumble on, then submit the improved page to directories where it will stay for years.

The launch checklist covers the steps for either order, and Free or paid product launch helps you decide whether any paid option is worth it at your stage.

What There's An AI For That does better

  • An audience that arrives with a task: people search TAAFT for a tool that does one specific job, which suits an AI product with a clear use case better than a general launch feed.
  • A paid package built for reach: the top plan adds a guaranteed spot in a newsletter that TAAFT says reaches 2.5M+ subscribers2.
  • No condition on your site at any price: no badge and no link back2, where a free MegaLaunch listing needs a link back.
  • A scope written for AI: MCP servers and GPTs are accepted as listings in their own right2.

What MegaLaunch does better

  • A free listing on a fixed timetable: live 48 hours after submission once the link back is checked, rather than a monthly chance of being picked.
  • A lower price for a paid launch: $4.99 one-time (excl. VAT) for Premium, and no review fee on the free plan.
  • Any product can launch, AI or not, so a product with an AI feature inside a broader offer does not have to argue its way into an AI-only catalogue.
  • A launch day with votes and comments under a rule anyone can check: one vote per person, and paid options never change votes or rankings.
  • The link type is a written term on the pricing page, not something you have to inspect after paying.

Who should pick which

Choose MegaLaunch if

  • Your product is not only an AI tool, or you want to reach makers and early adopters who browse new launches.
  • You want to launch for free and can add a link back, or pay $4.99 excl. VAT to skip the wait and the link back.
  • You want comments and a vote count from real people on launch day, to learn what to fix.

Choose There's An AI For That if

  • Your product is an AI tool, MCP server or GPT that solves a task people search for by name.
  • The entry fee fits your budget, or a newsletter feature justifies the top plan.
  • You do not want any badge or link on your own site.
  • You have not launched anywhere yet and want its launch-first credit.

Frequently asked questions

Is There's An AI For That legit?

It operates as a business with published prices, a staff review of every submission and a written refund rule: Full refund if the tool is not published; none once it is live8. The listings sampled for this page carried followed links. Its audience numbers are its own claims, so judge it by what you can measure: tag the listing link and count the visits it sends in the weeks after approval.

Can you list a tool on There's An AI For That for free?

Only by being selected. Its launch page describes one free route: Only through a monthly thread on X: one tool per thread is listed free2. Otherwise, the entry plan: Low traffic plan, $49 one-time review fee2. For comparison, a free MegaLaunch listing goes live 48 hours after submission, with a link back to MegaLaunch on your site.

How long does There's An AI For That take to publish a tool?

Its FAQ answers: Average processing time of 1 to 2 days2. Every submission is reviewed by a person, so keep a few days of margin before an announcement that depends on the listing being live.

Does There's An AI For That give a dofollow backlink?

Its launch page does not promise one2. On the listings checked for this page, the links to the tool had no nofollow attribute, so they were followed links on that day3. Check your own listing once it is live: inspect the visit button and look for a rel attribute.

Should I launch on MegaLaunch or There's An AI For That first?

If you want TAAFT’s ad credit, launch there first: the credit requires that the tool appear nowhere else before its TAAFT launch2. Otherwise, launching on MegaLaunch first lets you collect comments and fix your page before it sits in a directory for good.

Methodology and sources

Every fact about There’s An AI For That was read on its own site on 24 October 2026: the launch page (plans, prices, the free route, review time, the refund promise, the launch-first credit, accepted products and audience claims), the terms (refund rules), the homepage counter and the MCP page. The site answered automated requests with an error that day, so the pages were read in a regular browser and each value was copied as displayed. The link row comes from the HTML of two public listings, /ai/sherlocks-ai/ and /ai/pixmas/: the rel attribute of the links to the listed tool.

MegaLaunch’s values are read from its code (the launch plan constants and the site rules) when the page is built, and a live MegaLaunch product page checked the same day showed a followed link to the maker’s site (rel noopener, no nofollow). Matt, who builds MegaLaunch, wrote this comparison.

Left out on purpose: Domain Rating, because the Ahrefs checker could not be read for both sites on the same day; traffic, because no licensed source was used, so TAAFT’s figures appear only as its own claims; and the click estimates printed on TAAFT’s plans, which are its own forecasts and differ between two places on the same page. Advertising and sponsorship products on both sites are not compared here.

MegaLaunch’s prices are shown excl. VAT, as everywhere on its site: tax is added at checkout based on the buyer’s country. Other platforms’ prices are quoted as displayed on their own sites, which do not always say whether tax is included, so a MegaLaunch price and another price on this page may not be on the same tax basis. Compare the totals each checkout shows before you pay.
