Futurepedia alternatives for listing and finding AI tools
Futurepedia no longer shows a public form for new tools, so AI makers need somewhere else to list. There's An AI For That, Toolify and TopAI.tools sell reviewed listings, AI Directories lists free with a backlink, Future Tools reviews free submissions by hand, and Product Hunt and AlternativeTo offer free routes. MegaLaunch adds a free listing with a followed link.
MegaLaunch publishes this page and is one of the options. Facts checked between 24 Oct 2026 and 25 Oct 2026, sources below. How this page was checked

What changed at Futurepedia
Futurepedia made its name as a directory of AI tools. Its homepage now presents a learning platform for using AI at work, with courses, tutorials and workflows built around that directory1. The directory itself is still online and still large (5,000+ AI tools in its header; its directory showed 2,4942), with Trending, Popular and New views.
What changed for makers is the way in. The two addresses that used to sell a listing, futurepedia.io/submit-tool and futurepedia.io/enhanced, returned a 404 error when this page was checked, and neither the homepage nor the directory links to a submission form. The only form left for makers is Update a Tool, for a listing that already exists3. Its terms of service still describe verified listings and one-time fees for listings, without a price4. Paid listings may still be arranged privately; nothing on the site says how.
The practical consequence is simple. Until a public submission route returns, you cannot plan a launch around a Futurepedia listing, so the useful question becomes where else people look for AI tools, and what each of those places asks from you in money, time and conditions.
Two different reasons to look for an alternative
People who search for Futurepedia alternatives usually want one of two things. Some want another place to find AI tools: a directory to browse, compare and shortlist software for a task. Others have built an AI tool and want a place to list it, ideally one that sends visitors and leaves a useful link. One site rarely serves both groups equally well. This page is written mainly for the second group, with notes for the first.
For a maker, five conditions decide most of the choice: whether a free route exists, what the cheapest paid listing costs, how long it takes to go live, what link the listing gives your site, and whether you must add a badge or a link back. The table gives those five conditions for every option, read on each platform’s own pages. Audience and catalogue figures appear in the text only as each platform states them; none of them were measured for this page.
8 Futurepedia alternatives compared
Read across a row to see what one platform asks of you, and down a column to compare one condition. Futurepedia’s own row comes first for reference. The link column reports what a live listing carried on the day of the check: it is evidence about one page, not a promise about yours.

| AlternativeTo | A standard review queue, with no date given20 | Priority review, a one-time fee shown before you pay20 | Free: no date or position given. Priority: usually 1 to 2 business days20 | Varies: Official Website link followed on one sampled page, nofollow on another21 | None stated in its FAQ20 |
| MegaLaunch | Yes: live 48 hours after submission, with a link back to MegaLaunch22 | Premium, $4.99 one-time (excl. VAT): live once payment is confirmed22 | Free: 48 hours after submission. The alternatives, one by one
There's An AI For That
Best for: The closest replacement: a large AI directory with a low entry plan.
There's An AI For That is the closest match to what Futurepedia used to offer makers, and its way in is public. Its cheapest paid route is the entry plan (Low traffic plan, $49 one-time review fee6), a second plan adds a guaranteed newsletter spot, and its FAQ gives an average processing time of one to two days6. A free listing exists only through a monthly thread on X, where one tool per thread is picked6.
On the listings sampled for this comparison, the link to the tool itself carried no nofollow attribute7. Its launch page also offers ad credit to tools that launch there before appearing on any other platform6. If you want that credit, list there first and plan the rest of your launch after it.
- Audience
- 5M+ monthly visitors and 2.5M+ newsletter subscribers, as claimed on its launch page6
Toolify
Best for: Makers who want the link terms in writing and a listing within two days.
Toolify sells one listing plan, Submit AI, $99 one-time8, and shows no free route on its submit page8. It promises publication within 48 hours of payment without a queue8, and it is one of the few directories here that puts its link terms in writing: At least 6 dofollow links to your site, as stated8.
The listing sampled matched that promise: the link to the tool was followed, while links to other tools on the same page were not9. A tool that does not use AI is refused, and the fee comes back in full if the tool is not published8. Toolify can also write and translate the listing text for you8; write the English version yourself if you want control over how your product is described.
TopAI.tools
Best for: A paid fast track at an entry price close to There's An AI For That.
TopAI.tools sells Fast Track, $47 one-time10, live within 48 hours with no queue10, and a Featured Listing for a week of extra placement. Its submit page shows no free route10, and every submission goes through editorial review, with an automated refund if the tool is not accepted10.
Two details deserve a look before paying. The link observed varied: followed on most of the listings sampled, nofollow on one11. And its Verified badge, given after a hands-on review, cannot be bought10, which makes it a signal to earn with a maintained product rather than an upgrade to add at checkout.
AI Directories
Best for: An AI tool on a domain past 10 DR, or a maker who wants a cheap listing without a link back.
AI Directories opens its free route to any AI tool on a site above 10 DR that places a backlink to it on the homepage or in the footer12. A free listing is reviewed and published within 72 hours12, and it lasts only while the backlink stays on your site12. A brand-new domain below that threshold has to wait, or pay.
The paid plans drop both conditions and publish at once: Pro, $49 one-time (shown beside a struck $99), or Monthly, $9.99 a month12. On the public listings checked, the link to the tool carried no rel attribute and added ref and UTM tags13, so its visits are easy to spot. The same site publishes a ranked list of 200+ directories23, a useful map if you plan to list widely.
Future Tools
Best for: A free, strictly curated listing, if your tool can pass a human review.
Future Tools is the free option among the AI directories on this page: its submission form charges nothing and a person reviews each tool14. The bar is high: Over 75% of submitted tools are not approved, per its FAQ16. Custom GPTs, waitlist-only products and newsletters are among the usual refusals16, no review time is given, and the FAQ suggests resubmitting only if the tool is still not listed after a week16.
Treat it as a listing for readers more than for search engines. On the listing sampled, the button to the tool pointed to a redirect path on Future Tools itself, which its robots.txt asks crawlers to skip17. The paid route is a Featured Listing pinned to the top of the directory for a week, with the price sent on request15.
Product Hunt
Best for: AI products that can bring their own first supporters to one launch day.
Product Hunt is not an AI directory, but AI products launch there like any other software, and launching costs nothing18. You pick the day18, and new accounts wait a week before they can post a product24, so create the account before you need it.
The link is not the reason to go: on the product page sampled, the Visit website link was marked ugc19, a hint search engines treat much like nofollow. The reason to go is a day of concentrated attention, which a directory listing does not give. The Product Hunt alternatives guide compares the launch platforms around it.
AlternativeTo
Best for: An AI tool that replaces a known application and is more than a thin wrapper.
AlternativeTo lists software as alternatives to applications people already use, with a free review queue and a paid priority review20. Read its refusal list before you submit an AI product: Declines thin wrappers around someone else's model, such as AI rewriters and general-purpose image generators20. A thin layer over someone else’s model will not get in; a tool that replaces a known product in a distinctive way can reach people who are actively looking to switch.
The paid route buys speed, not approval (Free: no date or position given. Priority: usually 1 to 2 business days20). The link it gives is not uniform either: on the two listings sampled, one Official Website link was followed and the other was nofollow21.
MegaLaunch
Best for: A permanent listing with a community vote, for any independent product, AI or not.
MegaLaunch is a launch platform for independent products, not an AI directory, so it fits an AI tool its maker wants in front of other makers and early adopters. The Free listing goes live 48 hours after submission, with a link back to MegaLaunch22, and it links to your site without nofollow or sponsored attributes22. Premium costs $4.99 one-time (excl. VAT): it goes live once payment is confirmed and removes the link back requirement22.
Votes are one per person, and paid options never change rankings25. Matt builds MegaLaunch, so read this entry as a description, not a recommendation: compare the pricing page with the other options, and submit only if a general launch audience suits your tool.
Is Futurepedia legit?
Yes, in the sense people usually mean: it is a real business with published rules. The company behind it is not a small one: HubSpot, Inc., operating under its Futurepedia brand, per its terms4. Its editorial guidelines say it reviews what a product offers before including it, that it does not sell rankings, and that it may earn a referral fee when readers sign up through its links26. The same guidelines say it looks at security practices and privacy policies, which partly answers the “is it safe” question too.
Legit does not mean neutral, on Futurepedia or anywhere else. Many tool cards in its directory carry a “Pick” label2. Treat those picks as editorial opinion, open the tool’s own pricing and privacy pages before paying or uploading data, and compare with a second directory. That habit protects you whatever a site’s business model is.
Is Futurepedia free?
For readers, the directory is free to browse. The learning side has a free tier and a paid one (Courses: free Starter Access, or Monthly All Access at $29.99/mo27).
For makers, there is no public price at all, because there is no public submission form. If your tool is already listed, the Update a Tool form mentions no fee, and Futurepedia says its editorial team reviews requests as soon as possible, without a time frame3.
Is a Futurepedia listing still worth having?
If you already have one, yes: keep it accurate. On the two listings checked, the link to the tool carried no nofollow attribute and a Futurepedia campaign tag5, so visits from it can be identified in your analytics. An outdated description, a dead pricing tier or an old screenshot costs you more than a missing listing, because it sends readers to the wrong expectations.
If you do not have one, do not build a plan on it. Be careful with any third party that sells a guaranteed Futurepedia listing: without a public submission route, ask for the live listing URL as proof before paying, and treat a refusal to provide one as an answer. Spend the effort on directories you can act on today, then check Futurepedia again at your next review.
How to choose where to list an AI tool
Start with the acceptance rules, not the price. AI-only directories refuse products that do not use AI, AlternativeTo refuses thin wrappers around another company’s model, and Future Tools refuses most of what it receives. If your product is a simple interface over a general model, a paid priority review will only get you a faster refusal. If it does something specific with its own data, workflow or interface, say so in the first sentence of the listing.
Then check the link yourself. Open a listing published in the last few weeks, view the page source, find the link to the tool and read its rel attribute: nofollow, ugc or sponsored tell search engines not to treat the link as an endorsement, while no attribute leaves the decision to them. Watch for redirects through the directory’s own domain, which change what the link means. It takes two minutes per directory, and Do directory submissions help SEO? explains how much weight to give the answer.
Finally, prepare one accurate description and adapt it instead of writing a new one for each form. The free headline and tagline analyzer flags vague claims before you paste them, the UTM builder makes one tagged link per directory where tags are kept, and how to measure traffic from directory listings shows how to judge results after a few weeks rather than on the first day.
Listing on many directories without filling every form
If repeating the same forms dozens of times is the obstacle, MegaLaunch also runs a directory submission service: your product is submitted by hand and you receive a report for every directory, from $99 excl. VAT for 30 directories. It does not promise a listing on any particular site, including the ones above: each directory decides whether to accept a product and which link to give it.
When Futurepedia is still the right choice
Futurepedia is still a good choice for readers who want to learn to use AI rather than browse an index. Courses, tutorials and workflows sit next to its directory, and its homepage frames the whole site around using AI at work, with its own audience figure (700,000+ professionals from 150+ countries, as claimed on its homepage1). Someone who wants a guided path from “what can this do?” to a working routine gets more from that than from a list of tens of thousands of tools.
For makers whose tool is already listed, Futurepedia remains worth maintaining through the Update a Tool form, for the reasons above. And if it publishes a submission route again, compare its price, delay and link terms with the table on this page before deciding: the comparison will be updated at the next check.
Frequently asked questions
Is Futurepedia legit?
Yes. Its terms of service name HubSpot, Inc. as the company operating the Futurepedia brand4, and its editorial guidelines say it does not sell rankings. It may earn referral fees through its links, so read its picks as editorial opinion and check each tool’s own pricing page before paying.
Is Futurepedia free?
Browsing its AI tool directory is free. Its courses have a free Starter Access tier and a paid Monthly All Access plan27. Listing a new tool has no public price, because no public submission form was available when this page was checked.
How do I submit my AI tool to Futurepedia?
When this page was checked, you could not through a public form: its former submission pages returned a 404 error, and the only maker form was Update a Tool, for tools already listed3. The alternatives above accept submissions today.
Is Futurepedia worth it?
For learning to use AI at work, its free course tier is a low-risk way to find out. For an AI maker, a listing is worth keeping accurate if you already have one, but there is no public way to buy one today, so put your launch effort into the directories that accept submissions.
What are the best Futurepedia alternatives?
For listing an AI tool, There's An AI For That, Toolify and TopAI.tools sell reviewed listings, AI Directories lists for free once your site passes 10 DR and carries its backlink, and Future Tools reviews free submissions with a strict bar. Product Hunt and AlternativeTo add free routes with their own conditions. For finding tools, the large index of There's An AI For That and the hand-picked Top 20 of Future Tools are good starting points.
Methodology and sources
Every fact about a third-party platform was read on that platform’s own pages on 24 October 2026: submission and launch pages, FAQs, terms and public listings. AI Directories’ listing plans, submit page and a public listing were read again on 25 October 2026. The pages of Futurepedia, Future Tools and AI Directories were read with WebFetch. There's An AI For That, Toolify, TopAI.tools and Product Hunt refused automated requests that day, so their pages were read in a browser. Link types come from the HTML of live listings, named in each source below, with the same tool (Gencraft) checked on several directories as a cross-check: they show what one page carried on one day.
Left out on purpose: a price to list on Futurepedia, because no page of its site states one; Domain Rating, because Ahrefs figures could not be read for every row; and traffic, which none of these platforms publishes in a comparable way (audience figures are quoted only as each platform states them). MegaLaunch’s values are read from its own code.
MegaLaunch’s prices are shown excl. VAT, as everywhere on its site: tax is added at checkout based on the buyer’s country. Other platforms’ prices are quoted as displayed on their own sites, which do not always say whether tax is included, so a MegaLaunch price and another price on this page may not be on the same tax basis. Compare the totals each checkout shows before you pay.
